NOTAM Warnings

Overview#

Quick Release checks every scheduled flight against the active NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) for the airspace around your launch locations, and warns you where one is relevant: restricted or dangerous areas, navigation warnings, obstacles, and activity at nearby airfields.

The warnings are decision support only — they do not replace the official pre-flight briefing. The pilot in command decides.

Setup: connect your Autorouter account#

NOTAM data comes from autorouter.aero, which is free but licensed per user — so each operator connects their own account:

1. Create a free account at autorouter.aero (if you don’t have one).
2. In Quick Release, open Settings → weather settings and NOTAM, section Airspace / NOTAM.
3. Click connect Autorouter account and sign in at Autorouter when asked.

Once connected, Quick Release fetches the NOTAMs for all flight regions covering your launch locations and refreshes them at least every 6 hours. You can disconnect at any time in the same place; the stored authorization and the fetched NOTAM data are then removed.

If the authorization expires or is revoked, the settings page and the flight views show a reconnect notice — click it to restore the connection.

Where warnings appear#

• Flight planning list and flight cards — a red or amber indicator with a count next to the launch location. Click it to jump straight to the flight’s weather panel.
• Flight detail → weather panel — a NOTAM section listing every relevant notice: what, where, when, and the altitude band, with the raw NOTAM text one click away. The panel header carries a severity chip that stays visible when the panel is collapsed.
• Flight detail → trajectory map — a NOTAM layer you can toggle, drawing each NOTAM’s area on the map. Click an area for its details.
• Dashboard weather card — selecting a date and slot also shows the NOTAM summary for your favourite location.
• Location picker — when choosing a launch location for a flight, candidate locations show a warning icon if they have active NOTAMs for that date and slot, so you can pick a quieter alternative immediately.

What counts as relevant#

A NOTAM is shown on a flight only when all of these match:

Severity: 🔴 red = an airspace restriction overlaps your flight — check before you fly. 🟠 amber = anything else worth a look. A NOTAM that cannot be interpreted automatically is always shown amber rather than hidden.

Background notices: wide-area administrative NOTAMs (such as AIP publication announcements) are collected in a collapsed background notices group at the bottom of the list. They rarely affect a flight but remain available.

Data states#

The flight view always tells you where you stand — a missing warning never silently means “no NOTAMs”:

• No relevant NOTAMs known — data is fresh, nothing matched your flight.
• NOTAM data could not be refreshed — shown with the time of the last successful update when data is older than 12 hours.
• No NOTAM data for this location — the region has not been fetched (yet).
• Connect / reconnect hint — no active Autorouter connection; connect in settings to activate warnings.

NOTAMs are usually published close to their start date — check again nearer the flight.
