Tag Restrictions
Why Was This Feature Added?
This feature was introduced to help operators using the UP-url to allow passengers to re-book after a canceled flight. The goal is to ensure passengers can only select flights that align with their booking preferences (e.g., private flights). This improves the booking experience and ensures compliance with specific restrictions.
How Does It Work?
We use booking tags and flight tags to enforce these restrictions.
Booking Tags
Default Behavior: By default, booking tags have no restrictions. Passengers can select any flight, regardless of the flight tag.
New Behavior: You can now configure booking tags to include a list of allowed flight tags. This ensures that only flights with matching tags can be booked.
Flight Tags
Default Behavior: By default, flight tags have no restrictions. Flights can accept any booking, regardless of the booking tag.
New Behavior: You can now configure flight tags to accept only bookings with specific booking tags. The booking tag must include the flight tag in its list of allowed tags. Configuration
To apply these restrictions, update your tag configuration to define the allowed relationships between booking tags and flight tags.
Examples
Example 1: Private Flights
You want to restrict private flights so that:
Only private bookings are allowed. Private bookings can only book private flights.
Steps:
- Update the private booking tag: Add the private flight tag to the list of allowed flight tags.
- Update the private flight tag: Enable the option to limit bookings to those with the private booking tag.
Example 2: Fun Flights
You want fun flights to appear in the flight list but prevent any bookings for them.
Steps:
- Update the fun flight tag: Enable the option to limit bookings. Ensure no booking tags include the fun flight tag in their list of allowed tags.
Result: Fun flights will appear in the list but will not be bookable by anyone.
Additional Restrictions
- Booking End Date Flights beyond the booking end date will still appear in the flight list but will not be bookable. Bookings without an end date can book any flight, regardless of the flight date.
- Flights with Limited Capacity If a booking has more passengers than the available seats on a flight, the flight will appear as partially full but will not be bookable.
- Flights in Ready State Flights marked as ready will appear as full and cannot be booked by anyone. Summary
This feature provides operators with greater control over which flights passengers can book, ensuring compliance with booking preferences and operational requirements. By configuring booking and flight tags, you can enforce restrictions such as:
Limiting private flights to private bookings. Preventing bookings for specific flights while keeping them visible. Enforcing capacity and date-based restrictions.
To get started, review and update your tag configuration to align with your operational needs.
Happy Flights!
